The Friendship Band rocks the Iron Horse

The Friendship Band, Whole Children™ and Milestones’ resident rock band, brought a big crowd to the dance floor for their first annual Friendsgiving show.

On Nov. 3, Northampton’s iconic Iron Horse welcomed a packed house for a special performance by the Friendship Band, with local favorites The Soul Magnets opening the show. The Soul Magnets warmed up the crowd and got the crowd to put on their dancing shoes with their old-school, neo-soul and funk tunes.

The Friendship Band then took the stage with a powerful mix of original songs, written collaboratively by staff and participants, and high-energy covers of classic rock favorites. Their enthusiasm, musicianship, and stage presence turned the venue into one big celebration, keeping the dance floor full from start to finish.

Chris Harper, Whole Children and Milestones Director of Operations and Friendship Band drummer, said that this show was one of the best ones yet. Having professional sound technicians helped the band focus on giving their best at the show.

“So many people I spoke to, including the Soul Magnets and staff at Iron Horse, were blown away by the band,” said Harper, “The energy was contagious. We were so excited to play at Iron Horse and hope to play there again.”

All proceeds from the Friendsgiving show will be used towards Whole Children and Milestones performing arts programs.
