The Friendship Band Gears Up for a Month of Rocking Performances
The Friendship Band is getting ready to rock! Whole Children™ and Milestones’ resident rock band has three shows lined up for the next month, and you won’t want to miss any of them!
The first show is coming quickly—Transformance is set for Tuesday, August 19, between 4:30 and 9:30 p.m. at Pines Theater in Look Park. The show, benefitting the Northampton Arts Council, has a different transformation theme each year. For 2025, the theme is “Immigrant Song,” so The Friendship Band is channeling “The Clash” for their performance.
On Sunday, September 7, at 4 p.m., they are playing at the All Out Adventure’s Kayak-a-thon in Northampton. The event is All Out Adventure’s yearly fundraiser in support of their outdoor recreation programs for people with disabilities. ServiceNet’s Rooster Cafe will provide catering for kayakers.
On Saturday, October 4, at 12 p.m. at Stanley Park in Westfield, the Friendship Band is playing during the Buddy Walk hosted by the Down Syndrome Resource Group of Western Massachusetts (DSRG). It’s an opportunity to celebrate people with Down syndrome while raising funds for DSRG of Western Mass, which provides a wide range of support for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
The Friendship Band has played each of these venues before, but this is the first time they’re playing them all in the same year.
Band member and Whole Children and Milestones Director Chris Harper said the band learned three new songs in just six weeks. Harper and the band are confident and looking forward to all the performances.
“We have been working hard all summer and can’t wait for you to see the show!” said Harper.
