New Relationship Educational Clinics Using Whole Selves™ Curriculum to Launch in March
Whole Children™ and Milestones will be hosting educational clinics starting in March. The first clinic will focus on online dating and safety.
ServiceNet is an authorized provider of Whole Children ™ and Whole Selves ™ programs and services. The clinics will use the Whole Selves™ curriculum, a comprehensive sex education and relationship education curriculum, and Program Manager Jenna Perna-Elias is a certified Whole Selves educator. She teaches classes based on the curriculum, which has a wide variety of topics to work through, like relationships, making friends, boundaries, growing up and sex education. She teaches these relationship-focused classes at Whole Children™ and Milestones during their seasonal sessions, which last eight weeks.
The clinics, which have a small registration fee, will be shorter and focused on specific topics and will go on for four weeks, with each clinic session lasting over an hour. These clinics will be available for anyone who is interested; individuals with disabilities, educators, parents, and caregivers. Financial assistance is available for the clinic and other classes as well.
“In our longer classes, there are often many different interests and questions in the room, which can make it challenging to go deep on one specific topic,” said Perna-Elias. “With the clinics, participants know exactly what they’re signing up for, so we can spend focused time on the subjects that matter most to them.”
Perna-Elias also works with individuals in one-on-one sessions, giving them an even more individualized approach to learning.
The goal is for individuals to be able to take advantage of the clinics, the classes, and the one-on-one sessions in whatever way they need. Some people may start with one-on-one sessions, then take a class like Boundaries and Relationships or a clinic and have them return to one-on-one sessions if they feel like they need to brush up on skills.
“We’re really trying to create a space where people can meet people, make community, and work on the social skills that they’re actively learning in that space.” said Perna-Elias.
The first clinic starts on Wednesday, March 11, and people can sign up by emailing Jenna Perna-Elias at [email protected].
