From the Computer Screen to the Dance Floor: Meet Jorge Gonzalez Rosa

Jorge Gonzalez Rosa joined ServiceNet’s IT team in 2024, and since then he has been a steady, solutions-focused presence, keeping computers running, monitoring internet connectivity across residential homes and administrative offices, and refurbishing technology. For Jorge, IT is about much more than fixing machines. It is about the people behind them.

“I do have a lot of empathy with the people who call us because they have a lot of stress,” said Jorge. “You become like a little psychologist for like 15 minutes to be able to calm down this person and say, ‘Hey, it’s not your fault. If it’s a problem, it has a resolution. Let me find the resolution for you.'”

Jorge has always believed that technology was a way to help people. Growing up in Puerto Rico, he was fascinated by electronics from an early age, taking apart his Super Nintendo as a kid and eventually building his own computer. That curiosity led him to pursue a degree in microbiology and work as a lab technician, but it was IT that ultimately aligned with his vision of helping people in a meaningful way.

Outside of work, Jorge has found an unexpected passion that has taken him across the globe. In February 2025, he began learning ballroom dance at Fred Astaire in West Springfield, drawn in by the warmth and welcoming spirit of the community he found there. Just months later, he competed in an international dance competition in Chile, earning top student in the bronze division. For someone brand new to ballroom, it was a remarkable achievement.

But for Jorge, dancing and IT are not as different as they might seem. Both are ultimately about human connection.

“People forget that we are human beings,” said Jorge. “Dancing breaks the cycle. You’re actually looking at the eyes of another human being, you’re actually connecting with this person. You don’t need words to be able to feel how that person feels.”

It is that same spirit of connection and empathy that Jorge brings to his work at ServiceNet every single day.
