Prospect Meadow Farm to Celebrate New Barn with Ribbon Cutting

The new barn at Pittsfield’s Prospect Meadow Farm during its construction.
Prospect Meadow Farm will celebrate its new barn with a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon on June 12 at 717 Crane Avenue in Pittsfield.
Visitors will be invited to tour the space and enjoy music and refreshments, including light charcuterie.
Staffed by individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges, the farm in Pittsfield includes three greenhouses that allow it to grow seasonal produce year-round. The new barn will act as a hub area and include a storefront and cold storage that will help workers process and package produce and other products.
“This barn represents much more than a new facility,” said Shawn Robinson, vice president of Vocational Services. “It’s an investment in people, in opportunity, and in the Berkshires community, Prospect Meadow Farm has always been built on a simple belief: meaningful work changes lives. This space will allow more individuals to learn skills, contribute to their community, and experience the dignity and confidence that come from being valued for what they can do.”
The new barn will help expand Prospect Meadow Farm’s vocational program and create more meaningful job opportunities for workers, Robinson said.
Funding for the Barn was secured with support from the Executive Office of Economic Development and the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources.
