Diversity is more than just an idea at ServiceNet. We know progress takes commitment and a willingness to grow.

Equity, inclusion and belonging are central to ServiceNet’s mission. Our strength as an organization depends on the diverse cultures and experiences of our staff and the communities we serve.

From the care we give, to how we treat each other every day, we work together to bring these values to life.

Background

ServiceNet has long been dedicated to addressing issues around diversity, equity, and inclusion. Several events in the summer of 2020, including the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement and the national reckoning catalyzed by well-publicized murders of unarmed Black people, fueled a renewed sense of urgency on our part, and a need to recommit to addressing racism as an organization.

ServiceNet partnered with consultants to better understand the internal health of the agency in terms of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), with a specific focus on racial equity and bias.

Based on recommendations from this work, several key changes were implemented, including re-envisioning and expanding ServiceNet’s DEI Committee and creating a Diversity Coordinator position dedicated to raising awareness and helping facilitate ServiceNet’s continuing evolution relative to DEI.

DEI Committee and Diversity Coordinator

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee guides and holds the organization accountable on matters related to diversity, equity, and inclusion at ServiceNet, with members sharing their voices, experiences, knowledge, and insights to help to assure that ServiceNet is and continues to be a workplace where everyone feels safe and valued.

The Committee also collaborates with and supports the efforts of the Diversity Coordinator, working together to examine and shape policies, training, events, and more.
